Employment Type: Full Time, Hybrid Working Available

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Principal Mechanical Engineer or Principal Designer who is ready to progress into an Associate-level position, offering the chance to combine technical leadership, client engagement and engineering influence within a respected consultancy environment.
The organisation has developed a strong reputation for delivering technically excellent, sustainable and practical engineering solutions across the built environment. Their approach goes beyond traditional design consultancy, combining mechanical and electrical engineering expertise, sustainability, BIM-led delivery and practical engineering knowledge to create buildings that perform better for clients, occupants and the environment.
For the successful candidate, this represents the opportunity to move into a role where your expertise is recognised and your influence extends beyond individual project delivery. You will help shape engineering strategies, support client relationships, mentor developing engineers and contribute to the continued growth of the mechanical engineering discipline.
Why This Consultancy Stands Out
This consultancy operates across a diverse portfolio of sectors, delivering technically challenging projects including:
• Residential developments
• Commercial and workplace environments
• Retail projects
• Industrial and logistics facilities
• Manufacturing environments
• Education buildings
• Healthcare projects
• Public-sector and specialist developments
Their difference lies in the combination of technical expertise, sustainable design thinking and practical delivery experience. Rather than simply producing engineering solutions, they focus on creating efficient, resilient and future-ready buildings that deliver long-term value.
For an Associate Mechanical Designer, this creates an environment where you can genuinely influence projects from early-stage strategy through to completion, while working alongside talented engineers across multiple disciplines.
The Role
As an Associate Mechanical Designer, you will act as a technical leader within the mechanical team, taking responsibility for complex engineering solutions and supporting the continued development of the consultancy’s capabilities.
You will combine technical authority with leadership responsibility, working closely with clients, consultants and multidisciplinary teams to deliver high-quality mechanical designs.

• Collaborate with electrical, sustainability, BIM and wider project teams to deliver integrated engineering solutions.
• Build strong relationships with clients, consultants and project stakeholders.
• Mentor and support engineers, helping develop technical capability and maintain high design standards.
• Contribute to innovation, continuous improvement and the continued growth of the mechanical engineering team.
Who You Are
