Purpose of your role
Reporting to the Design Manager, the HVAC Project Engineer is part of the operations mechanical team. The HVAC Project Engineer will take instruction and guidance from the Design Manager and the Project Manager for daily engineering activities and is responsible for delivery of the complete HVAC System. You will work closely with the design team to provide advice on concept designs, estimates and budgets to a wide-ranging variety of projects. The HVAC Project Engineer will have a wide breadth of knowledge of all HVAC systems, chilled water and hot water distribution, condensate drainage and supporting services. In addition to the main duties this role enjoys a close working relationship with live engineering projects. You will need to support the site operations team and be able to make informed decisions on all Mechanical Building Services matters.
Roles and Responsibilities
Review design concept with design team.
Provide design advice to ensure efficient application of solution and installation.
Review and produce project schedules for installation period.
Assist with supplier verification on quality and ability.
Assess and inspect supplier product and report any deficiencies or corrective actions required.
Expedite equipment delivery with Project Management Team.
Assist with sub-contractor selection.
Attend site for receipt of major plant items and supervise the installation / positioning.
Work with the Site Supervisor and Project Manager to identify and mitigate any risk from health and safety viewpoint.
Gather and collate RAMS from site sub-contractors and suppliers.
Work as the interface between the Sub-Contractor and Project Team to ensure the correct solution is delivered and installed.
Assist with commissioning of system and hand over to relevant project deliverables.
Attend site meetings with Design Team and Client.
Have an advanced understanding of HVAC Design including Chiller capacities, Air volumes and Pipework distribution systems.
Have an advanced understanding of HVAC control systems and operating strategies
Assist technically in the resolution of problems and issues as they occur
Be a problem solver with a can do attitude.
Support the customer post installation and answer queries.
Ensure your CPD is kept up to date and relevant.
Any other reasonable tasks as required.
Qualifications and Experience
A good understanding of Psychrometric data, humidity control and CHP is desirable but not essential.
Qualified within Building Services, Mechanical Engineering or related discipline.
Chartered Engineer or working towards with professional body registration such as CIBSE or IET.
