The Manchester Building Services Team is looking to make 3 appointments over the coming months, with the employment of a talented, technically gifted Mechanical Associate seen as a key hire. This role is best suited to an Engineer from a buildings M&E background, looking for an opportunity to pursue industry leading designs within a vibrant multi-disciplinary practice.

Projects currently include mixed-use residential, commercial office space, football stadia, R&D and transport, all coming together to offer a highly challenging, rewarding and diverse portfolio of work to get stuck into.

This role will see the appointed candidate leading the Mechanical Team on projects in the North West and further afield. Suitable applicants will be looking to play an active role in technical delivery, project management, mentorship / line management and business development.

Additional duties will include collaborating with a wider UK MEP team of around 125 Engineers and Technicians, drawing upon the diverse skills and knowledge of other connected disciplines, including sustainability, building physics, fire engineering, facades, lighting, technology and more. This role will give you a wide breadth of technical exposure and enable you to push the boundaries of sustainable design.

This key role will have a variety of day to day responsibilities including:

  • Lead the Mechanical Team and take a project leadership role as required
  • Communicating directly with Clients, offering innovative design solutions and managing expectations. Further developing relationships with existing and new clients including contractors, architects and developers.
  • Preparing technical and financial proposals for new work.
  • Managing workload of engineers and technicians
  • Preparing Technical Specifications.
  • Monitor financial performance of jobs as well as setting up and managing job/project administrative systems, including planning and monitoring job resourcing/expenditure


As a talented building services engineer, it is expected that you would be able to demonstrate:

  • Extensive mechanical design experience in an MEP consultancy, with experience acting as project leader
  • Diverse sector experience, ideally with large scale project experience.
  • Strong interpersonal and organisational skills, able to develop relationships with clients, architects and other team members.
  • Bachelors or Masters degree in engineering
  • Professionally registered with a relevant institution; e.g. CIBSE, IMechE, etc.
  • Although mechanically biased it is expected that you will have a good understanding of other design disciplines.
